Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2012I own 3 different Osprey packs now. A large backpacking backpack, this small day pack, and one of their luggage packs. Osprey is nothing but the highest quality you can find. The pack is nice and light and packs into other bags easily. The zippers are top notch like all Osprey products and it has enough room for the basics. For skiing I fit extras like gloves and a jacket and pants. I primarily bought it to bring on trips as a small day pack and it serves that purpose well. If you are looking for something with a ton of pockets look elsewhere however. The simplicity keeps weight down yet it is so durable.
The back has a corrugated pattern to keep sweat down and the straps and waist belt is easy to adjust and give you high end pack features on a small model. For me, I am 6' 3" and this pack even worked well for me. Great buy.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2013Our family is always on the move and I wanted a backpack that was stylish, useful and comfortable. This bag meets all of my needs.
I am able to fit water bottles/kids cups in the outside pockets. Medicine and keys in the smallest front pocket. Wallet and cell phone in the inner pocket. And I am able to stuff 2 sets of extra toddler clothes, diapers and wipes and lunch.
I wish it was just a tad bigger, but it fits my necessities which keeps me from overpacking. The shoulder straps, while comfortable, can rub my skin if I'm wearing a tank top. I like that I can strap it across my chest for when I need it to stay more still (running or climbing).
A great little backpack that has many purposes.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2013This pack was very versitile, has lots of pockets, tons of space and seems durable. My problem with it (and the 22 liter size pack) was the fit. The shoulder straps were OK and the pack was about right for a average size adult male. My biggest problem came with the waist straps. They have added pockets to the strap that actually add convinience and padding, however the pockets are small and might fit an energy bar or something, but my phone would barely fit (iphone 5). That being said, they dont fit low enough. The waist traps were too high and not actually on my waist... the problem is the load did not balance as it should, and worse, all it really did was pull up my shirt when walking. And with teh additional pockets.. the waist straps do not go away when not in use. This was almost a great pack. If it fits you better than it did me, you may really love this pack. (hence the 3 star as it would not work at all for me)
- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2013I already own several packs and bags from Osprey and all have performed admirably. I was looking for an extremely lightweight day pack with good shoulder and waistband support that my wife could use in rugged terrain. This pack provides that plus extra ajustability with a velcro shoulder strap extender. The pack has all the bells and whistles (really, built right into the sternum strap) that I expect from Osprey. There are loops, tie downs, pockets, pouches, hydration bladder compartment and tube vents, and all the compressoin straps that you could ever need. On a week long family vacation, this pack was passed among four different ladies for wilderness day hikes and all raved about the capacity, comfort, and convenience of the pack. They were all suprised at how light the pack felt, even with jackets, first aid kits, water blader, and snacks. This pack is definitely sized for a smaller framed individual. If you have a longer torso or wider shoulders, I would recommend the Talon 22.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2012I was looking for a small light weight bag for hiking. I considered a few options from Deuter and Jack Wolfsking, and after tying out a few of those I decided to go for Osprey Talon 11 as it looked very nice and well designed. It was over my budget and almost double the price as compared to Deuter, but I thought I was buying something of very good quality which will last for a long time.
Unfortunately after 1.5 weeks of hiking in Utah was not much left of it. It has a big hole in the bottom outer fabric looks like it had better days. I think the bottom bit should be made of tougher material as it is most vulnerable, mine broke way too quickly. I understand that bag is made of light material, but I still expected it to last much longer than just one trip.
All in all I am very disappointed with Osprey and wont be buying this brand again. I have number of bags from different brands, and they last for years!
I would not recommend this bag for any serious hiking. It's not worth the price, so don't bother with this one, go and get something cheaper!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2013I bought two of these in large for my husband and I. He is 6'1" broad back, standard length torso, muscular build and I am 5'10" and have a really long torso, small waist and broader back. We are training for an adventure race and needed a good size backpack. It stays in place pretty well when your running though it has to be so high and tight, the waist strap ends up around your belly button. I like it there but my husband doesn't. So in reallity it could stand to be longer in the length. However, we still love them. All the pockets have good accessibility. It has great little pockets on the shoulder straps for 5 hour energy drinks or smaller bars. The two zipper ones on the waist strap are a little hard to get in and out of. They require two hands to zip but they are still great pockets. The helmet tether is freaking genius! You can tie your biking helmet on to your pack and even run without it flopping. We also discovered that it had a spot to attach trekking poles. It cleaned up will after getting muddy, has a great area for your hydration bladder. Seems to hold 1.5 to 3 liters just fine. It is water resistant. I dont know to what extent though. The vent system for your back works nicely. Definitely allows air to move so you don't feel like your soaking your pack with sweat. It could stand to be just a little bit bigger for racing i think, but overall it is a great pack and serves us well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Osprey Talon 11
This rucksack replaced a faithful old Deuter 25 litre that had given me excellent service but was rather worn and heavy: I need something smaller and much lighter as great age and back ache took their toll. I chose the Talon for its light weight, comfort and features - I wanted an internal zipped pocket for valuables and a variety of other pockets for my phone, specs case and countless other bits n bobs. It is so light and compact that when empty if folds flat and stows in my suitcase. Importantly, the Talon 11 comes in 2 sizes/volumes - you need to choose the right one for your back length (see the Osprey website). The range of adjustments means that I can wear it very comfortably over various clothing combinations, even when full. Access to the main compartment and pockets is easy. I particularly like the pockets on the waist and shoulder straps which I use for my specs, scarf and antiseptic gel - all readily available without taking off the rucksack. Moreover, it has an external shock-cord web under which I stow my folded waterproof jacket - again making it readily available (also it's a good place to put a wet garment when it stops raining). I don't believe that the Talon is waterproof (it might be showerproof). As I wanted to carry a digital camera and lenses, I bought a small Vaude waterproof rucksack cover, which folds compactly and can be quickly pulled over the rucksack in a downpour. So far, I haven't found a use for the cycle helmet clip. When worn, the Talon has a rounded profile that doesn't protrude unduly - I probably would wear it in a china shop! I found that on a hot day, perspiration formed on my back at the points of contact with the rucksack; my old Deuter had a mesh 'stand-off' panel that prevented contact and averted wetness but made it very bulky. Any rucksack is a compromise and I find the Talon 11 highly acceptable as a day sack for short rambles with a camera, extra clothes, wallet, camera, phone etc. This is a high-quality, very well thought-out, very technical rucksack and this is reflected in the rather high price. In my view, based on using countless rucksacks over 50 years, the Talon range is good value, provided you understand the pros and cons and are satisfied that the rucksack will meet your needs.
